Ocho Rios is located 60 miles or 2 hours' drive east of Montego Bay. It was once a small fishing village and historically a banana port. It is now a world-class tourist destination. Ocho Rios is also the home to Jamaica’s famous Dunn’s River Falls where climbing the falls is a famous Jamaican adventure. For a small fee, you can relax on the beach or climb with a guide to the top of the 600-foot (183m) falls. You can splash in the waters at the bottom of the falls or drop into the cool pools higher up between the cascades of water. The beach restaurant provides snacks and drinks and dressing rooms are available. If you're planning to climb the falls, wear old tennis shoes. Reef shoes are available for rent. Climbing the falls is a chance to experience some 600 feet (183m) of cold but clear mountain water. In contrast to the heat swirling around you, the splashing water hitting your face and bare legs is cooling on a hot day.
